EXCLUSIVE: Charlotte Iserbyt On Life, Education & Homeschooling

Charlotte Iserbyt is an American hero. As former Senior Policy Advisor at the U.S. Department of Education under President Reagan, she put her career and reputation on the line when she blew the whistle on one of the greatest evils ever perpetrated against the American people. Her heroic efforts to expose and oppose the dangerous indoctrination and the deliberate dumbing down of American children have done more to preserve our civilization than most people can imagine. It began when she leaked a draft of a federally funded grant (Better Education Skills through Technology…B.E.S.T.) aimed at controlling the curriculum in all fifty states. The flier advertising Project “BEST” stated in very small print at the bottom of one page that B.E.S.T. could be used in ALL local government functions, not just education. This included transportation, housing, agriculture, social services, and more — much like UN Agenda 2030.

There was one page in the draft grant that was so unsettling, it triggered Charlotte’s decision to leak the document to Human Events, a D.C. weekly journal. That page was stamped CONFIDENTIAL and it said, verbatim: “What we can control and manipulate at the local level.” It then listed the following: curriculum, choice of unelected persons to be on task forces, and more. The goal, quite clearly, was control over all federally funded activities. Charlotte’s decision to expose this is one of the reasons we consider her an American hero.

Dr. Sam Blumenfeld and Alex Newman dedicated their book Crimes of the Educators: How Utopians Are Using Government Schools to Destroy America’s Children, to a group of heroes in the education field — chief among them, Iserbyt.

Like TLS editor Newman, she has also written for The New American magazine. Her contributions to the August 8, 1994, the special report on education by The New American headlined “What Went Wrong” are just as relevant today as they were then, if not more so.

In this interview with The Liberty Sentinel, Iserbyt offers insight on what has happened, what is happening, and what she expects to happen in the coming years. She also has priceless advice on homeschooling, what books home-educators need to get their hands on, and so much more. You will not want to miss it!

Iserbyt’s books include the 39-page booklet Back to Basics Reform Or…OBE…Skinnerian International Curriculum? and The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America. She also published the important 1989 flier “Soviets in the Classroom..America’s Latest Education Fad.” Her 8-disc set “Exposing the Global Road to Ruin through Education” is a priceless resource for all patriots. It includes two education conferences featuring the testimony of public school teachers and education researchers exposing what has happened to the public schools. All of the above resources are available at Charlotte’s website: deliberatedumbingdown.com. They should be considered mandatory for anyone who hopes to restore America, liberty, and Christian civilization.

The interview:

What do you think is (are) the biggest threat to our freedoms right now?

By far the biggest threats to our freedom are the Deliberate Dumbing Down of America, and tax-funded school choice and charters with unelected boards. There is also the merger of the United States and Russia AND China (with which the USA has extensive agreements) and the Community Oriented Policing System (C.O.P.S.) The history of the deliberate dumbing down and changes in our form of government, using primarily the public/private C.O.P.S. program, being implemented in all towns and cities nationwide, are documented in my book by that title. Quotes and documents from The New York Times, and other mainstream news media as well.

One of the key components of this was outlined in 1934 in “Conclusions and Recommendations …Report of the Commission on the Social Studies,” funded by the Carnegie Corporation. It calls for changing the United States capitalist system to a “planned economy” and “in some cases taking our land.” Rockefeller Foundation comes in second in its involvement and funding of the unconstitutional education agenda. He who does not know history is bound to repeat it. If Americans don’t have the history in the above books and videos, they will lose whatever is left of their constitutional freedoms. One cannot win a war without ammunition (the who, why, when, where, and how history related to the loss of our once-free nation under God.) The above research resources give you the ammunition to win this deadly war.

What are the most effective actions people can take to protect our freedom?

We need to stop talking and start taking action. Politely in the beginning, then in their faces. Do not wait until “it” happens to you!

Remember what German Lutheran pastor Martin Niemöller said—his quote is important. “First they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew,” he wrote, before listing several other categories of people such as “trade unionists” targeted by the National Socialist regime. “Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me.”

We need to stand together. We need to take action at the local AND state levels to stop the destruction of our system of government.

Remember the truism, “The devil has plans for idle hands.” Don’t be idle. Get busy!

What are some of your most serious concerns about what is happening in the field of education right now?

The single biggest threat I see in education right now is the merger of the public and private sector, with no elected officials, to implement the so-called “school choice” agenda and tax-funded charter schools with no elected boards. This unconstitutional agenda will eliminate true choice while at the same time removing any remaining control that voters may have over curriculum and local funding of education. How many Americans are aware that education funding at the federal, state, and local level (over $1 TRILLION) exceeds total spending for Defense (just under $1 trillion)?

This outrageous spending is, of course, necessary for Carnegie Foundation’s socialist/communist planned economy that is right now being advanced through “school to work” schemes. This “choice” is like mixing oil with water. You cannot mix “free-market choice” with true local control under one system. To understand this, read the complete Don Bell Report which includes superb research by the late Virginia Birt Baker. Also look at the individuals pushing this agenda, and recognize their intent to subvert our freedoms under the U.S. Constitution with its Representative form of government. The United States of America is a Constitutional Republic, NOT a Democracy.

In my book, I zero in on The Coming Revolution in Education and the “new theory of schooling,” written by former University of Georgia professor of educational administration, Eugene Maxwell Boyce. Boyce neatly sums up the change in our economic system, if we do not take action. Boyce says: “In the communist ideology the function of universal education is clear, and easily understood“ and “Universal education fits neatly into the authoritarian state. Education is tied directly to jobs—control of the job being the critical control point in an authoritarian state. Level of education, and consequently the level of employment, is determined first by level of achievement in school. They do not educate people for jobs that do not exist…. No such controlled relationship between education and jobs exists in democratic countries.”

Recognize what is on “your” doorstep. Boyce is talking about a quota system. This means your children will have no choice in the career they wish to pursue. For example, if your child comes in No. 11 and there is a quota of 10 people to be trained in specific job skills for a particular career he has chosen, he, as No. 11, will not get the training. His dreams will be shattered, perhaps forever.

What advice do you have for home school families?

First of all, there are a lot of materials for an academic curriculum, such as textbooks, which home schoolers should try to find on the Internet. This is advice I give to home school parents who want to give their children a solid academic and moral education.

I highly recommend the Strayer-Upton series of basic math which was published in the 1930s. Upton was a Professor of Mathematics at Columbia University. These books, which go from Grade 1 to high school, are fantastic. They cover multiplication tables, adding/subtracting/division, many wonderful several-step complex problem-solving examples, pages of test work for students, and much more.

I bought them when our school did away with traditional math. Our change agent superintendent wouldn’t use them K-12, but the middle school principal told me he ordered them and was using them with special education students and those students were doing far better than the regular students in math! I used them with my sons as supplementary texts. I myself love to do the math problems!

Of course, since the books are now close to eighty years old, a problem dealing with the cost of a dozen eggs will show price back then: $.25 cents for a dozen or whatever eggs cost back then. (Someone should reprint and get the price for eggs, etc. updated!)

Go to Amazon.com or elsewhere and see if you can find this superb math curriculum. If I were you, I would get my hands on every single one you can find on the Internet. I understand from Moms in Louisiana to whom I sent a list of good curriculum materials for home schoolers, who immediately scooped up many Strayer-Upton math books, that these moms depleted existing copies to extent they are now, if available at all, selling for very high prices at Amazon.

Another priceless American history book is Donzella Boyle’s “Quest of a Hemisphere.” [Editor’s note: This entire book is available for free from Robert Welch University.]

For teaching reading the right way — using phonics instruction — buy Sam Blumenfeld’s ALPHA PHONICS. The late Sam B. was a dear friend of mine and wrote the Foreword to my book Deliberate Dumbing Down. He is internationally known as #1 in teaching children to read. [Editor’s note: This full book can be obtained free from Camp Constitution. Supplemental resources for Alpha-Phonics are available free from DonPotter.net]

What are some conservative groups and individuals who you think are worth supporting?

The leadership of all of the so-called conservative groups has been severely compromised. Members of these groups cannot believe such can be the case. The left and the right are in bed together at the top. The late Professor Carroll Quigley, historian for the Council on Foreign Relations and mentor to Bill Clinton, explained this all in his book Tragedy and Hope. Basically, the industrialists got together in late 1890s and planned how “they” would select those “they” wanted to run various countries, and the world, so when we peons go to polls and think we are getting what “we” want, we get what “they” want.

Here is exact quote: “The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to doctrinaire and academic thinkers. Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can ‘throw the rascals out’ at any election without leading to any profound or extensive shifts in policy” (Georgetown University Professor Carroll Quigley, Tragedy and Hope, 1966.)

Are there any liberal individuals or groups doing worthwhile work? If so, which ones?

There are a very few liberal individuals in and out of government who grasp the essence of the problem. They, similar to the few true conservatives trying to get the message out, have been boycotted and marginalized.

What organizations do you think pose the greatest threat to America and freedom today?

The tax-exempt foundations such as Carnegie, Rockefeller, Ford, Pew, et al; the corporate sector, led by people like George Soros; and Netflix President Reed Hastings and Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos, who ALL support charter schools for global workforce training.

Of equal importance are the Heritage Foundation and the Council for National Policy. Also leading the pack are Bill Gates and other tech wizards, all of whom support Skinnerian computer technology (Skinner said the computer was his box). Skinnerian/Pavlovian operant conditioning denies free will. These individuals and groups probably pose the greatest threat, with the federal government always there to provide tax-exempt funding (especially Carnegie Corp) of the agenda.

Then there is the Communist Party USA, hiding in background while Gramschian/Alinskian methods are used to divide and conquer good Americans of all races and religions. Think CHICAGO. CPUSA has always been, secretly, using the totally unaware, naive (trusting) within the black community to implement the corporate/communist dictatorship.

Community Oriented Policing (COPS) is a good example of the danger of public private partnerships where citizens have lost their voice; where towns and cities are being run by unelected people in partnership with the police. For documentation regarding purpose of the COPS program search for “det. Worts” and read what came out of the mouth of a San Diego Lt. Detective.

I have a small 3/5 inch paper tract written by Stalin entitled “The Negro Problem.” My article Experimentation with Minorities tells the story how minorities were used for over 50 years to change education from academics to Skinnerian/Pavlovian Mastery Learning/Direct Instruction/Outcomes Based Education.

Brown vs. Board of Education decision, which was hailed as a milestone in giving minorities upward mobility, did just the opposite; it deliberately dumbed them down! This experimentation — so-called individualized education, no grades, the Skinner method, and so on — resulted in the implementation of the school-to-work/non-academic agenda NOW going into ALL schools of the nation and world.

The implementation of regional government (communism) was, I think, the original objective of Brown vs. Board of Education in that it allowed for the initial unconstitutional crossing of borders through busing. Anthropologists like Margaret Meade and Frank Boas were involved in drafting the Brown vs. Board of Education decision, knowing “they” could use it for their own purposes. Carnegie Corporation initially funded socialist Swede Gunnar Myrdahl to craft the decision. E. Michael Jones wrote an excellent book entitled “The Slaughter of Cities” which explained how black culture was manipulated through inner city housing development.

What do you see coming as the Christian foundations of our civilization are eroded away?

A police state which is being implemented as we speak through the Communist-oriented Community Oriented Policing System (C.O.P.S). Use a search engine and look up Trojanowicz (founder of the “snitch on your neighbor” community oriented policing program). Trojanowicz even speaks of getting rid of family and Christian values/influence, supplanting it with “community” values; replacing our Constitutional system with unelected public/private partnerships. The C.O.P.S. is, in my opinion, the most dangerous Constitution-destroying program in the nation. It must be exposed. The Portland, Maine, Community Policing Overview, for example, covers every facet of your family’s life. C.O.P.S. is also ushering in an unelected council form of government — a communist form of government, aka “regional government”.

What is the end goal of the neoconservatives, globalists, socialists, and other forces?

Their main goal is making money, through control of every aspect of our lives, using public/private partnerships. They also want to eliminate elected representatives, impose their religious (New Age) persuasions on everyone, and use our children to spin off profits for the global elite.

Of all your many accomplishments, what are the ones of which you are are most proud?

I take no credit for my accomplishments, none of which were possible without the assistance of God Almighty, working abroad, incidental travel, and the incredible research and activism of great patriots, some still alive and many who came before me and educated me.

You’ve lived a long and incredible life. Any regrets you would share with young people to help them out?

I wish I could live forever in order to sit down and speak with the generations to come about bad judgment I have had regarding important people and groups in my life. I would advise them not to immediately dislike — cut yourself off from — someone because that person is a different color or has a different worldview. Often those of a different color or with a different worldview can become your friends. Stand firm at all times regarding your values but embrace those who haven’t arrived “there” yet. By doing so you will gain their respect and often, in the long run, they will partially accept your values and be more dependable as friends and activists than those you thought were your friends. More often than not those very people will turn out to be ones you respect and have more to learn from than those who are “holier than thou.” In other words, don’t be judgmental. Only God, ultimately, is the judge.

Learn a foreign language.

Buy pre-1945 history books on the Internet. They are so cheap all you often have to pay is a few cents over postage and handling. Don’t forget the Christian Bible is the number one best seller. That must mean “something.”

Don’t consider college education a “must.” For young parents a bit of advice: When your first child arrives put a piggy bank on kitchen table and put one dollar or more in it every day until your child has graduated from high school. Then, if your child is partially responsible, give him or her the proceeds and tell them to go start their own business.

Loving all people is first and foremost important. That doesn’t mean one becomes part of the collective. It means that you respect all human beings, but you retain your individualism as you respect their individualism. The goal of Satan is to create division (divide and conquer) so that he can step in and encourage “togetherness” collective (communism). That is what we see happening today. I literally weep when I see the innocent young ones being targeted by satanic forces facilitated by all forms of technology. These forces have been created to attack free will and the soul.

True Christianity is key. I would recommend the young ones, if they can read, be familiar with the Bible (Old and New Testament) and C.S. Lewis.

Anything else you want to add that I did not ask about?

When I become really discouraged about the state of our nation and the intentional communist tactic of splitting up (fracturing of Americans into opposing groups) I, being addicted to classical and jazz/blues music, listen to Eric Clapton and Winton Marsalis, et al, at Lincoln Center as they and their diverse band “truly” communicate with musical talent, their side comments and laughter. This pulls me out of depression and gets me back on track with a smile on my face.

Such accomplished musicians won’t exist in the future when our young people have no say in their futures, when they can only get the training and education they want if they happen to be within the “set” global quota system. Think about THAT!

Truisms I would pass on are:

– The devil has plans for idle hands.

-Don’t ever tell your secrets to a friend for when your friend becomes your foe, all your secrets he/she will know.

-If you don’t know what to say, keep your mouth shut.

-He who angers you controls you.

-Don’t put off to tomorrow what you can do today.

-Early bird gets worm.

-Stitch in time saves nine.

-Early to bed, early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.

-Loose lips sink ships.

-Haste makes waste

Finally, this is one of the many brilliant interviews Charlotte has done:

Charlotte asked us to recommend the following 1968 Edward Griffin interview entitled “More Deadly Than War.” She considers this to be absolutely prophetic in that Griffin, fifty-one years ago, foresaw exactly how communism (regionalism) would be implemented in our nation: the use of communist methods to divide and conquer our people, and the use of gradualism and the Hegelian dialectic to bring down our nation without anyone understanding what was going on, until it is too late. We can’t say Griffin did not warn us. Of course, it is obvious his prophetic warning was boycotted across the board. I only came across it yesterday! Better capture it while you can.

The Liberty Sentinel will be bringing you more exclusive, amazing interviews with incredible people on a regular basis. Stay tuned for more in the weeks, months, and years ahead!
