I must be able to interact personally with some one over a considerable period of time, and observe and assess their behavior and evaluate his/her veracity and reliability before I can trust him/her. To complicate matters, I know some generally honest people who have terrible skills concerning observation, perception, and analysis -- I would trust them to not tell me a big lie, BUT I don't trust their ability to search for and see the truth. For instance, when I ask many (most) people "What color is the sky today?" they automatically reply "It's blue", without even looking up. In fact, I only ask this question when I have observed the sky to be silvery-buff colored. s
