As we evolve and grow, each of us reaches a point on our path in which we find it is time to take out the proverbial trash and decide to cleanse our lives of all that no longer serves us.
When we do, it may be difficult to decipher where to begin, but if you have reached this point, you have already begun and the following will help you to rid your life of toxins: mind, body, and soul.
To assess what to remove and what needs to stay, you first need to ask yourself, what is dragging me down? What prevents me from living my best possible life, and what makes me feel like I cannot succeed. Once you have narrowed that down, you will know where to start. And the following is a great checklist to mark off to jump-start your full life cleanse.
1. Make a ‘cleanse’ list.
Grab a sheet of paper. Write down the categories most important in your life. This can include family, relationships, career, finances, or spiritual paths. Beneath each one, write down areas you could improve and areas that you are doing well with. In the areas that you can improve, what do you need to cleanse from your life to improve it?
2. Sage your life.
Grab a sage stick, and sage everything. Sage every crevice of your home, your yard, your body, your clothes, and your place of work if possible. The idea is to completely rid your life of negative ions that may be floating around.
3. Drink more water! (Add lemon for bonus points.)
Our bodies are composed of around 60% of water. To maintain our health, we must be drinking enough water. And the amount may differ, based on your lifestyle. Check out the following link for more information.
4. Cleanse your diet.
Now, it’s time to assess your diet. If you have an excess of sugars, simple carbohydrates, and bad fats, it is time to cut back. Replace them with healthier options and try to make one simple change each day for a week. In time, you will have improved your diet exponentially.
5. Cleanse your social life.
Do you constantly interact with toxic people who drag you down, use you, and constantly bring chaos into your life? It may be time to cut ties. While you cannot remove everyone toxic from your life, as some people are intrinsically tied into your life, you can cut back. At best, cut back on the time you spend with people who drag you down.
6. Cut back on bad habits.
If you are smoking, drinking constantly, or partaking in other bad habits that drag you down, try to find meaningful ways to cut back or stop altogether.
7. Improve your sleep habits.
Depending on your lifestyle, experts say that 7-9 hours of sleep each night. If you are sleeping more or less than that, it is time to correct. Part of cleansing and improving your life includes getting adequate sleep because, for us to be able to be our best possible self, we must first get rested!
8. Cleanse your digestive system.
There are several natural ways to cleanse the digestive tract. From eating a high-fiber diet to mixing 2 teaspoons of sea salt with lukewarm water and then drinking it on an empty stomach. Within a few days of making a change in this regard, you should start seeing results. Epsom salts are also amazing for this!
9. Get more exercise.
When you saw this, if you don’t exercise, your heart rate probably jumped a bit. But don’t worry, I am not saying you need to spend hours each day in the gym, instead try using a pedometer, and reaching step goals. You can go on walks each evening for 20 minutes, and make sure to walk as much as possible, and even with this simple change – you will see results!
10. Cleanse with herbal tea.
Dandelion tea and peppermint tea are awesome for this. You can also try artichoke or milk thistle. Whichever one you try, you will see results. Shoot for 1-2 cups per day at first.
11. Take cleansing baths.
Throw some Himalayan sea salt into the tub and soak in it for 30 minutes. The sea salt will not only physically cleanse your body, but it will also cleanse your being.
12. Spiritually cleanse.
Take time each day to hone in on your spiritual practice. Even if you only meditate for five minutes with a candle burning, and give gratitude for the things that make you happiest, you will see the benefits with time.
Above all, remember, just keep trying. You won’t see instant results, of course. But, if you practice a small change each day for each category, you will notice an immense change over time!
